2 weeks old

Look how long her hair is!
I can't believe how fast the time has gone. Alexis is now 2 weeks old. She is already back up to her birth weight. She's a good eater and a very good baby. We're still working on getting her to sleep longer at night between feedings. I'm managing fairly well on so little sleep... I think. Jason is so great with her. We're really enjoying the little noises she makes. They always make us laugh.

Here is the story of Alexis' delivery.

On Friday, June 4th, I had an appointment with my OB since I was then at 40 weeks. They did a biophysical exam on Alexis. Her heart beat and movements were strong and healthy. But when they checked the amniotic fluid levels, they were lower than they would like to see. I was 3 cm dilated. My doctor was out of town, so the doctor on-call decided my levels were at a point that they wanted to induce me. Jason and I drove home, picked up our bags for the hospital, and were on our way to have the baby. I was kind of in shock just thinking, "Wow. She's really coming." We were as ready as we could be, but it's still shocking to think that it was really happening.
At about 4 pm on Friday they induced me, and shortly after, they broke my water. I made it until about 6:15pm before asking for pain medicine in my IV to take the edge off the contractions. The medicine did not help. They made me feel very drugged, but the contractions I still continued to feel very well. By 6:45pm I requested an epidural. Now, that is a great drug! It wasn't as bad as I thought receiving the epidural, probably because I had in my mind that it was going to be horrible. Shortly after the epidural, I felt no contractions.
Then, we started to wait. We tried to rest, knowing it was going to be a long night delivering the baby, but with all the beeping machines hooked up to me and a blood pressure cuff going off every 15 minutes, it was nearly impossible. Jason was a great help doing everything he could throughout the labor to comfort me.
About 2:15am on Saturday, June 5th, I was finally 10 cm dilated. I started pushing, and Alexis was born at 3:34am. She was born healthy and happy with no problems. 7lb 3.5 oz, 19 inches long. Full head of thick brown hair. Her head was a little coned, but by the next day was rounded out, which was much quicker than I thought it would take.
She is such a joy that has been brought into our lives. I thank God for bringing her to us. He kept us healthy throughout the entire pregnancy and labor. We pray that we will be the best parents we can for her and raise her up the right way.
She is a very good baby. She doesn't cry or fuss too much. We are working on getting her days and nights switched, and know that it will take time. The little noises she makes are so cute! Her hair is so long, it actually goes over the collars on her onesies. I can't believe how thick and long it is.

Alexis has not decided to come into the world yet. Tomorrow I have a dr's appointment where they will check her and make sure she is healthy, moving enough, enough fluids, and the placenta is working well enough. If anything isn't good enough, they will induce me at that time. If everything is fine, they will let me go until June 11th, before they induce me. I'm hoping she will decide to come naturally before the 11th, on her own time. I haven't had any contractions yet. I think she is comfy and content where she is, why would she want to come out? I've still been feeling really good. I'm still working and plan on working up until I start having contractions.

Here is a photo of something I've always wanted to be able to do, eat ice cream without holding the bowl! Sweet!!!

The Crib!

Jason is going to add some finishing touches to it, then varnish it.
Then the crib will be complete.

The Changing Table is complete!

Almost complete. It just needs varnish.
